Opportunity: K-Group Leader

Summary:
Kaleo's K-Group ministry is the backbone of how our community is structured. Our people gather weekly in homes to fellowship, serve, learn and grow spiritually. A K-Group Leader is a single person or married couple willing to gather and shepherd a small group (Koinonia-Group, AKA K-Group) of congregants on a weekly basis.

Time Requirements:

  • K-group leaders should plan on leading a once-weekly gathering in a home for 3+/- hours from September-May (K-group seasons are matched to the school year). For summer and December, we only ask that you gather your K-group once a month.
  • The K-groups pastor will lead a topical training (typically with food and childcare provided) about 4 times a year (October, January, March, May) that will last about 2-3 hours.
  • Twice a semester, the K-group pastor will meet with you (spouses encouraged to join) for a check-in. Normally this is done over lunch or dinner.
  • Every August, we ask that our existing and new K-group leaders gather once a week for 3-weeks for about 2-3 hours each week to go through a training “boot camp” before kicking off a new season. Dinner and childcare provided.

This Position Reports to: K-Groups Director – Pastor Cody Carpenter

Responsibilities and Authority:

  • Gathering your K-group weekly. Communication is key.
  • Leading your K-Group by praying, teaching/learning the bible, being on mission, fellowshipping and eating together. Not every one of these elements will happen in a weekly gathering but they should be happening throughout the course of a ministry season.
  • K-group leaders do not necessarily need to host the group in their own home, but it can be helpful if they are able to. Hosting can happen at another participant’s house or at the church if needed.
  • Leaders will need to lead the group and help delegate duties to other members.
  • Keep their K-group "Groups" page updated with pertinent information (attendance, vision for the group, communication with the group) and be responsive and warm when a new member requests to join.

Qualifications:

  • Have a sincere and mature walk with the Lord.
  • Be part of an existing K-group.
  • Have your current K-group leader’s recommendation to lead.
  • Be a Kaleo Church member in good standing.
  • Possess a desire to lead and a willingness to submit to the Lord’s direction and to church leadership.
  • Pass a background check. If there is a flag in your background, it does not necessarily disqualify you. We would just ask to have a conversation about it and take it case-by-case, dependent on the severity, time since offense, and the applicant's maturity.
